MEMPHIS-South region members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) voted two Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs to the 2015 Academic All-District 5 First Team announced today.
Senior forward
Camilla Rodrigues (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) and junior defender
Gabrielle Pilgrim (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) represent CBU on the Academic All-District 5 team, which comprises the South Region.
Rodrigues, also an Academic All-District pick last season, leads CBU with five goals, six assists and 16 points. With a 3.37 GPA in civil engineering, Rodrigues was a Second Team NSCAA All-American last year as well as first team NSCAA All-South Region, second team Daktronics All-South Region, Academic All-GSC and First-Team All-GSC.
Pilgrim, also repeating as an Academic All-District selection, has started all 16 games at center back, ranking second on the team with 1,396 minutes played. She has scored one goal with one assist for three points. Pilgrim, who has a perfect 4.0 GPA in interdisciplinary studies, was also an Academic All-GSC selection as a sophomore and Second Team All-GSC as a freshman.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure. All first-team Academic All-District winners advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
To be eligible for Academic All-District, students must carry at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA after at least a year in school and be a significant contributor on the field. South region CoSIDA members vote on the eligible student-athletes.
Pilgrim, Rodrigues and the Lady Bucs celebrate Senior Night tomorrow at 5 p.m. as they host Union in a battle for the final berth in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
