MEMPHIS-Both the Gulf South Conference and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association named Christian Brothers University senior forward
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn., Fayette Academy) as their women's basketball Player of the Week after she led the Lady Bucs to a 3-0 week.
Reeves, who also swept both awards Dec. 13, averaged 27.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game last week, shooting 59.6 percent overall including 62.5 percent from three-point range. She kicked off the week with 22 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists in Monday's 57-52 win at Alabama Huntsville. Thursday, she scored 28 of her career-high 31 points in the second half of the Lady Bucs' 60-55 win over Lee. She added eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in the game in leading CBU's comeback from a 41-17 deficit in the final seconds of the first half. She finished the week Saturday with 28 points and 10 rebounds in the Lady Bucs' 54-52 win over Shorter. For the week, she finished 28-of-47 from the floor, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Reeves ranks third in the GSC with 17.4 ppg this season, and her 20.0 ppg in GSC games leads the league. The GSC Player of the Week award was her third, as she also won the award Jan. 12, 2016.
Reeves and the Lady Bucs return to action Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. as they visit West Alabama. Their next home game is Thursday, Feb. 2, when they host West Georgia at 5 p.m.
