CBU Names Jessie Homesley Softball Head Coach

MEMPHIS – Jessie Homesley has been named the softball head coach at Christian Brothers University by Director of Athletics Brian Summers. Homesley becomes the seventh head coach in the program's history.

"Coach Homesley was highly recommended by some of the most respected coaches in the Gulf South Conference," said Summers. "Multiple coaches felt she is one of the bright young stars of the coaching profession and that CBU would be well served with her leading our program. With CBU in the midst of a capital campaign that will relocate and construct a new softball stadium, all while adding scholarship enhancements to allow softball to compete for GSC championships, I'm excited to see Coach Homesley build a top-level program of young women who achieve in the classroom and on the field."

Homesley joins CBU after spending the past five seasons at Gulf South Conference rival Shorter University. She led the Hawks to a 28-23 record and was ranked as high as No. 7 in the South Region last year—her first as the program's head coach.

"First I would like to thank Athletic Director Brian Summers and Senior Woman Administrator Donna Crone for the opportunity to lead the CBU softball program," said Homesley. "The first thing that stood out to me about CBU was the strong sense of community and I look forward to being a part of that. It is clear to me that CBU athletics is moving in the right direction and I wholeheartedly believe in the vision and future of CBU softball. There are exciting things in store and I can't wait to get started!"

Homesley brings extensive experience competing at the highest levels of NCAA Division II. Her four years as an assistant coach saw the program amass an 87-37 record, while winning the 2014 GSC regular season, 2015 GSC tournament, 2015 NCAA South Region, and 2014 National Christian College Athletic Association national championships. The 2015 squad finished 43-17 and placed third at the NCAA Division II World Series. She coached 11 All-Americans, 12 National Fastpitch Coaches Association scholar athletes, a GSC Freshman of the Year and a GSC Player of the Year.

Homesley is a graduate of Furman University where she earned her bachelor's degree in business administration and played infield for the NCAA Division I Paladins. She earned all-conference honors as a shortstop her junior year and as a third baseman her senior year. She received a master's degree in leadership from Shorter University.

Homesley is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. She will reside in the Memphis area.
