    Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach
Nic Fortenberry was named the men's and women's track and field head coach at Christian Brothers University by Director of Athletics Brian Summers on July 21, 2016. Fortenberry is the first full-time head coach in the program's history.

"It was clear from the start of our search, Nic was our top candidate," said Summers. "His extensive experience at the University of Memphis and in the Memphis area, and his vision for building our young program into a conference and national contender make him the right fit for CBU. I believe Coach Fortenberry provides our program with a dedicated, high-character individual who will lead us with distinction."  
 
Fortenberry joins CBU after spending the past 10 seasons as an assistant coach at University of Memphis. Fortenberry was the Tigers' sprints/hurdles coach and guided 14 NCAA Championships qualifiers, 34 NCAA regional qualifiers and 20 conference champions. In his time at Memphis, his athletes set 22 school records. In addition, the Tigers track programs received USTFCCA All-Academic Team recognition the past five years. He also oversaw the team's travel and recruiting was involved with campus housing and meet management.

Prior to University of Memphis, Fortenberry spent 10 years as an assistant and head track and field and cross country coach at Memphis-area high schools, Houston High School and Kirby High School. He was part of three cross country and one track and field state championship teams. 

While Fortenberry assumes control of the track and field programs, Bill Hoffman will remain as CBU's cross country head coach and serve as the distance coach for the track programs.

Fortenberry ran the 400 hurdles and 800 meters as a collegiate athlete at Louisiana State University and earned the athletic department's Directors Cup, which is given to athletes with a 3.0 or better GPA. He earned his bachelor's degree in industrial education and construction management. 

Fortenberry is married to former Christina Feldmann and they have two children, Gabe and Jada.
