Lady Bucs Fall 60-49 To Memphis In Exhibition Opener

Memphis, TN - The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer basketball team trailed the University of Memphis by just two at the half, but couldn't close the gap and lost to the Lady Tigers, 60-41 tonight.

CBU shot just 22 percent in each half from the field. The Lady Bucs went 2-12 from the three point line in the first half, and 11-13 from the free throw line. They however didn't make a single three or free throw in the second half.

Memphis, playing with just seven players, out scored the Lady Bucs 31-14 in the second half. Devin Necaise led the Tigers with 14 points, Paris Leonard and Gresh Gorman had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Kristen Kirkland had 12 points off the bench for the Lady Bucs. Freshman Crystal Shelton had eight points and eight rebounds, while Mary Shea Hackett added eight points.

The Lady Bucs will be back in action this Saturday, November 12 when they travel to Southeast Missouri to take on the Redhawks. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
