Lady Bucs Move To 2-1 With 66-55 Road Win At Lane

Jackson, TN - Crystal Shelton had 21 points and six rebounds and the Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer basketball team defeated Lane College tonight 66-55.

CBU (2-1) took a six point lead into the half. A three-pointer from Jazmine Borella with just under ten minutes gave the Lady Bucs an 11 point advantage.

Kelli Gross sunk a three-pointer two minutes into the second half giving the Lady Bucs an 11-point cushion as CBU went on a 7-2 run to start the half. CBU would never relinquish the lead and two free throws from Kristen Kirkland with six seconds left iced the game.

Lane (0-3) shot just 27 percent in the game, but 28 Lady Buc turnovers led to 17 Lady Dragon steals. Angela Webb and Shayna Troupe had 15 and 11 points, respectively. Emma Sing had a game-high 12 rebounds.

Shelton led all scorers with 21 points. She went 9-17 from the field and 1-1 from long range. Kirkland scored 16 and had seven rebounds, going 4-9 from the field, 2-4 from three-point range, and 6-8 from the foul line. Gross had 11 points and five assists, playing in 37 minutes.

The Lady Bucs shot 45 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three-point line. They were out-rebounded by lane 50-46.

CBU will be back in action on Thursday, December 1 when they play host to Arkansas Baptist at Canale Arena. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
