Arkadelphia, AR - The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer basketball team outscored Henderson State 32-30 in the second half and nearly upset the 8th ranked Lady Reddies, falling on the road, 67-62.
CBU (8-6, 1-3 GSC) fell behind early as Henderson opened up a 26-11 lead after two free throws from Jeanna White at the ten minute mark. The Lady Bucs, however, went on a 19-11 run to end the half, trailing 37-30 going into the locker room.
CBU shot 36 percent in the first half, but made four of eight three's to stay in the game. The Lady Bucs came out in the second half and started on a 9-3 run to cut the lead to one, prompting HSU coach Jeff Caldwell to clear the bench and sit his starters.
The Lady Bucs would get as close as two one more time in the half on an Erin Nigh three pointer at the five-minute mark.
HSU (15-1, 5-0 GSC) won it's ninth game in a row. The Lady Reddies were paced by 17 points from Shondra Bush. Ashley Perry and Rayna Hare added 11 points each.
Crystal Shelton and Nigh each scored 14 with Shelton adding five rebounds. Mary Shea Hackett scored eight while Michelle Steele had a team-high six rebounds.
The Lady Bucs will be back in action this Thursday, January 19 when they play host to Harding at Canale Arena. Tip off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
