No. 10 Argos Defeat Bucs 3-1

Oct. 2, 2006

Final Stats

MEMPHIS--Jimmy McHenry accounted for all three goals as he helped No. 10 West Florida to a 3-1 victory over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday afternoon in Pensacola, Fla.

McHenry put the Argos (9-1-1, 3-0 GSC) on the board in the 28th minute when he scored an unassisted goal.  The Bucs (5-4-1, 1-1) would answer in the 51st minute when junior Matt Werakso (Wollongong, Australia) scored an unassisted goal in the 51st minute.

McHenry put the Argos ahead for good in the 68th minute when he connected with Keith Savage for a goal.  Werakso had two chances to tie the game in the 81st minute.  UWF goalkeeper Juan Garcia made a spectacular save on a Werakso penalty kick, and his rebound attempt missed wide.

Just two minutes later, McHenry found Alvaro Franco, who put the match away with a header.

The Bucs out-shot UWF 15-11, though the Argos held a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.

CBU will step out of GSC play this weekend as they visit Martin Methodist Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and host Brescia Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
