Russellville, AR - The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer basketball team shot just 23 percent from the field in the second half en route to 28 percent for the game and dropped a road game at Arkansas Tech tonight, 60-44.
CBU (10-12, 3-8 GSC) had a 12-10 lead at the 13 minute mark of the first half after a three pointer from Kristen Kirkland. Tech tied the game at 14 apiece two minutes later and took a six point advantage at the ten minute mark after back-to-back threes from Melanie Pierce.
Tech's lead would grow to 14, but a late three from Carley Wright broght the score to 37-26 as the horn sounded sending the Lady Bucs into the locker room, trailing by 11.
ATU (13-10, 5-7 GSC) pushed its lead to 17, the largest of the night, at the four minute mark of the second half on a free throw from Ginger Murphy. Pierce led all scorers with 15 points. Amanda Grappe had 13 points, while Murphy added 10.
Wright led the Lady Bucs with eight points and five rebounds. She was 2-3 from long range and 2-4 from the free-throw line in 16 minutes of play. Mary Shea Hackett scored eight, while Ponecia Anderson and Kelli Gross each had seven.
The Lady Bucs will be back in action on Monday, February 13 when they play host to Henderson State at 5:30 p.m. in Canale Arena.
