Magnolia, AR - The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer basketball team allowed 51 second half points and fell 84-60 at Southern Arkansas in the team's season finale.
CBU (10-17, 3-13 GSC) opened the game on a 10-5 run and led 13-12 with 8:44 left after a free throw from Crystal Shelton. A three from Southern's KiKi Junior on the next possession gave the Lady Muleriders a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
SAU (13-14, 8-8 GSC) had a 33-27 lead at the half. They out scored CBU 51-33 in the second half. Latrice Booker had 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Sharonda Davis recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Junior had 20 points.
Shelton led the Lady Bucs with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Ponecia Anderson scored 13 and pulled down five boards. Erin Nigh had nine points on the night, while Ashley Besinger scored six.
Shelton finished the season averaging 14 points per game and 5.1 rebounds. She will share the GSC freshman scoring title with Harding's Catherine McMenamy as the two scored an identical 379 points in 27 games.
The Lady Bucs finish the season 10-17, but return every player for next season in what was one of the GSC's youngest teams.
