Monticello, AR - The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team dropped a pair of conference double-headers this weekend at Arkansas-Monticello.
CBU (7-13, 0-8 GSC) lost two heartbreakers on Saturday. In game one, Nikki Dunn threw a one hitter, but an error led to an unearned run and the Lady Bucs lost 2-1. Jenny Bernard had two hits and an RBI for CBU.
In game two, CBU and UAM went to extra innings and after scoring two in the top of the tenth, the Lady Bucs allowed three in the bottom half of the inning, falling 5-4. Bernard, again had two hits and an RBI. Paula Cerrito and Michelle Paul had two hits each, while Tia Shores and Kallie McFatter drove in one each.
UAM (11-9, 4-0 GSC) had a seven-run fourth and defeated CBU 12-2 in game three. Paul had two hits, while Hannah Shackelford drove in one. UAM's Kelli Little allowed just four hitsin helping the Blossoms win game four, 4-0. Bernard, Cerrito, Shores and Shackelford all had a hit apiece. Nikki Dunn struck out eight in the loss.
The Lady Bucs will be back in action on Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18 with double-headers at Ouachita Baptist.
