Arkadelphia, AR - The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team dropped the final two games of a four-game series today at Ouachita Baptist. Game scores were 6-3 and 4-1.
CBU (8-16, 1-11 GSC) scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead in game one. Meagan Shackelford homered in the fourth to cut the lead to one. Mandy Presson and Hannah Shackelford singled to start the fifth and with two outs, Tia Shores singled home Presson and moved Shackelford to second. Michelle Paul sent a shot to deep shortstop loading the bases and Shackelford scored on a wild pitch.
OBU (12-4, 8-2 GSC) scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, and had two runners on in the bottom of the seventh when Lauren Western tagged CBU starter Nikki Dunn for a three-run homer to win the game for the Tigers.
Shores and Lauren Zavelli both had two hits in the game. Dunn went six and two thirds, allowing five earned runs, while striking out five.
The Tigers scored four runs over four different innings off of game two starter Kallie McFatter to win, 4-1. Presson scored an unearned run in the top of the fifth for the Lady Bucs' lone run.
Jenny Bernard, Paula Cerrito, Shores, Paul and McFatter each had a hit for CBU. McFatter went six innings and struck out four, allowing three earned runs.
The Lady Bucs will be back in action on Friday, March 24 when they play host to Central Arkansas. The teams will play double-headerson Friday and Saturday.
