Bucs Drop Double-Header At Central Arkansas

Conway, AR - The Christian Brothers University Buccaneer baseball team dropped a pair today at Central Arkansas, losing 7-6 and 3-0.

CBU (7-3, 0-2 GSC) started hot in game one, scoring five in the first inning. Michael St. Cin doubled home Mark Foster for the first run of the game. After a walk to John Raymond Hehn, Blake Christian homered to left for his first long ball of the season. Ryne Dahlke followed that with a homer of his own to give the Bucs a 5-0 lead after one.

UCA (11-5, 2-0 GSC) scored three runs in its half of the first. The Bears scored one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at five, and then took a 7-5 lead with two runs in the seventh.

CBU scored a run in the ninth on an RBI single from Hehn, but wouldn't get any closer. Foster had two hits, while Christian drove in three.

John Daush started and went six and a third, allowing five earned runs, striking out three. Carl McKee pitched a perfect inning and two thirds, striking out four in relief.

Charlie Soukup started game two and struck out three in six innings, but UCA starter Zach Barnett struck out seven in a complete-game shutout of the Bucs. Foster had two hits in game two, while St. Cin, Matt Trouy and Andrew Griffy had a hit each.

The two teams will be back in action on Sunday, with a single game at 1 p.m.
