Final Stats
Memphis, TN - Six runs over the seventh and eighth innings helped lead Rhodes College to a 10-7 win over the Christian Brothers University Buccaneer baseball team today on the campus of Rhodes.
CBU (8-4) got on top with two runs in the first after a blast from John Raymond Hehn sailed over the wall in left center.
Rhodes (11-2) answered back with a run in each of the third and fourth innings to tie the game at two. The Bucs got two more in the sixth, but Rhodes again answered with two in its half of the sixth.
CBU scored in the seventh when Blake Christian drilled CBU's second home run of the game over the left field wall.
Like before, however, Rhodes would have an answer with four runs in the seventh. The Bucs would threaten late with a run in each of the eighth and ninth innings, but couldn't pull off the comeback.
Michael Steele started for CBU and threw five and a third, allowing just two earned runs and striking out five in the no decision. Carl McKee, Bobby Daush and Steven Thomas all pitched in relief.
Charlie Soukup and Matt Trouy each had three hits as Soukup scored twice and Trouy drove in one and scored once. Hehn had two RBIs while Ryne Dahlke went 2-4 on the day.
CBU will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when the Bucs will travel accross town to LeMoyne-Owen for a 3 p.m. start.
