Bucs Defeat Rust, 17-5

Final Stats

Holly Springs, MS - The Christian Brothers University Buccaneer baseball team scored 16 runs over the final four innings and defeated Rust College, 17-5 today.

The Bucs (22-13) were down 3-1 after four innings, but scored five runs in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead. They scored a run in the sixth and five each in the seventh and eighth.

Nick Ely started and went five innings, striking out four and walking just one to earn his second win of the season. Josh Dove and James Coleman limited Rust to one hit over the final three innings.

Rocky Escajadillo went 3-5 with four RBIs and a run scored, while Mark Foster was 3-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Michael St. Cin had two hits and three RBIs, while John Raymond Hehn, Blake Christian and Matt Wilder had two hits each.

CBU will be back in action on Wednesday, April 12 traveling to Union University for a 2 p.m. start.
