Bucs Complete Season Sweep Of Union With 7-5 Win

Jackson, TN - John Raymond Hehn's 12th home run of the season sparked a three-run seventh inning and the Christian Brothers University Buccaneer baseball team defeated Union for the second time in a week, winning 7-5.

CBU (23-13) moved to ten games over .500 for the first time since 1998 when the Bucs started the season 12-1. Both teams scored a run in each of the second and third innings, before the Bucs picked up a pair of unearned runs in the sixth.

Michael St. Cin was hit by a pitch to start the seventh inning and Hehn followed with a home run to left center. Matt Trouy added an RBI single later in the inning.

Union (27-19) scored three in the bottom of the seventh, but Bobby Daush, John Daush and Steven Thomas held the Bulldogs scoreless over the final two innings.

Matt Smith started and earned his second win of the year. He went five and two thirds of an inning, striking out five, walking none and allowed just two earned runs. Thomas picked up his sixth save of the year.

Rocky Escajadillo went 2-4 with three runs scored. Ryne Dahlke and Charlie Soukup had two hits each, while Soukup scored once and drove in a run. Hehn had a homer and two RBIs, while St. Cin scored twice.

The Bucs will be back in action this Friday, April 14 when they play host to Delta State in a double header at Buc field beginning at noon.
