Lady Buc Softball Team Falls To UAH and LMU

Decatur, AL - The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team dropped two tough games today in the third day of the Gulf South Conference Crossover. The Lady Bucs fell 13-5 to 20th ranked Alabama-Huntsville and 5-2 to Lincoln Memorial.

CBU (17-26, 5-21 GSC) allowed ten runs over the first threee innings to UAH in game one, but came back with four runs in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to 10-4.

Hannah Shackelford tripled home Lauren Hearn for the Lady Bucs' first run. Shackelford scored when Paula Cerrito reached on an error. Tia Shores and Meagan Shackleford added RBI singles in the inning.

UAH (35-11, 13-7 GSC) scored three more runs in the third to go back up 13-4 and the Lady Bucs would add a run in the fourth on a wild pitch.

Kallie McFatter started and went three and a third innings. Nikki Dunn came in and threw an inning and two thirds of relief, allowing just one hit. Bernard, Shores and Meagan Shackleford had two hits each.

LMU (29-20, 7-12 GSC) had three home runs, two off the bat of Kristen Hutchison, and the Lady Railsplitters defeated CBU 5-2. LMU hit nine home runs in three games on the day.

Dunn started for the Lady Bucs and scattered six hits, allowing four earned runs, while striking out six. Lauren Zavelli had a two run double in the sixth inning.

The Lady Bucs will finish the Crossover tomorrow, with a game against Valdosta State at noon.
