Final Stats
Searcy, AR - The Christian Brothers University Buccaneer baseball team defeated Harding, 9-6 today, winning the three-game conference series and moving into a half game out of fourth place in the GSC West.
CBU (21-13, 10-8 GSC) matched last year's win total of 21 and the ten wins is the most ever in GSC play by a CBU team.
The Bucs were up 5-2 after the top of the sixth, but Harding (17-21, 3-12 GSC) came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at five.
Both teams had a scoreless seventh, but the Bucs broke out for four runs in the eighth. Andrew Griffy sacrificed Matt Trouy to second to start the inning. Mark Foster doubled home Trouy with a shot to right center and later scored when Blake Christian singled to right center. John Raymond Hehn was intentionally walked, the second time in the weekend, just before the Christian hit and he and Christian both scored when Rocky Escajadillo doubled to right center.
Shawn Morgan started and went six innings. He left in the sixth with the game tied, and John Daush pitched the final three innings to get the win. Daush moved to 5-2 on the season.
Foster went 3-6 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Hehn had two hits, with a run and an RBI, while Escajadillo drove in three.
The Bucs will be back in action tomorrow, April 10 when they travel to Rust College for a 1 p.m. start.
