ARKADELPHIA, Ark.--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs built an 18-6 lead in the first nine minutes Saturday afternoon, but No. 6 Henderson State proved to be too much in the end, pulling away for a 75-60 Gulf South Conference West Division victory.
Shondra Bush led all scorers with 28 points to carry the Lady Reddies (12-2, 1-2 GSC West). After CBU had built the 18-6 lead, Bush scored five quick points to start a 30-10 run that put HSU ahead 36-28 with 18:29 left in the game. The Lady Bucs (7-8, 0-3) came within five points twice, but HSU stretched the lead to as much as 20 points in the final minutes.
Sophomore forward Crystal Shelton (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg HS) led the Lady Bucs with 15 points, while seniors Mary Shea Hackett (Nesbit, Miss./St. Agnes Academy) and Ashley Besinger (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) scored eight points each.
The Lady Bucs will return to Arkadelphia Thursday night to face Ouachita Baptist at 6 p.m. Their next home game will be Saturday afternoon against No. 10 Delta State at 2 p.m.
