ARKADELPHIA, Ark.--In a game with seven ties and nine lead changes, host Ouachita Baptist held off the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 66-61 in Gulf South Conference West Division play Thursday night.
The Lady Tigers (9-7, 1-3 GSC West) used a 12-2 run early in the first half to take a 12-4 lead over the Lady Bucs (7-9, 0-4). The Lady Bucs answered with a 10-3 run to pull within one, and neither side would lead by more than seven points again.
Ponecia Anderson (Bartlett, Tenn./Bolton HS) led all scorers with 16 points, while Kat Butler (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS) was the only other Lady Buc in double figures with 11.
Kim Beverly and Lindsey Dooley led Ouachita with 12 points each, while Angela Colliver added 11. The Lady Tigers out-rebounded CBU by a commanding 43-24 margin, including a 14-5 edge in offensive rebounds.
The Lady Bucs were held to 37.7 percent (20-of-53) from the floor for the game, while Ouachita shot 45.5 percent (25-of-55).
The Lady Bucs return to Canale Arena Saturday afternoon to face No. 8 Delta State. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
