MURRAY, Ky.--Murray State's Ashley N. Hayes scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Racers to an 84-49 victory over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday night in the first exhibition game for both schools.
The Lady Bucs stayed within striking distance well into the second half, as close as 10 points at 41-31 with 16 minutes to play, but the Racers finished the game on a 43-18 run to turn it into a rout.
Junior guard Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) paced the Lady Bucs with 18 points, four rebounds, and three steals, while junior forward Crystal Shelton (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg HS) added 13 points and four rebounds.
Alaina Lee scored 17 for Murray, and Amber Guffey scored 14. The Racers out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 50-25, including a 26-10 margin in offensive rebounds. Murray was 32-of-71 (45.1 percent) from the floor, to CBU's 18-of-52 (34.6 percent).
The Lady Bucs will be back in action Tuesday night in Clarksville at Austin Peay State for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The game will be carried on gobucsgo.com through Stretch Internet.
