CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.--A 17-3 first-half run helped Austin Peay defeat the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 68-47 in exhibition play Tuesday night.
After both teams traded baskets to start the game, APSU scored the next 10 points and 17 of the next 20 as their lead ballooned to 19-5, and the Lady Bucs never came closer than 11 again.
Junior guard Kat Butler (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS) led the Lady Bucs with 14 points, while junior guard Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) added 11.
April Thomas led the Lady Governors with 16 points. Amber Bacon posted a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Megan Anderson added 14 points, while Nicole Jamen scored 10.
The Lady Bucs finish their exhibition schedule Monday night as they visit Southern Illinois at 7 p.m. SIU went 21-11 last season, including a trip to the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
