Lady Bisons Hold Off Lady Bucs 71-58

SEARCY, Ark.--Host Harding outlasted the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 71-58 Saturday night at Rhodes Field House, ending the Lady Bucs' season at 10-17.

The Lady Bisons (18-9, 8-6 Gulf South Conference West Division) used an 11-2 run early in the second half to finally pull away from the Lady Bucs (10-17, 2-12). The Lady Bucs had pulled within a point at 45-44 on an Erin Nigh (Morristown, Ind./Morristown HS) jumper with 15 minutes remaining.

Harding's Stacey Owens converted a fastbreak layup to start the 11-2 run that put Harding ahead 56-46 at the 8:18 mark of the game. CBU never came closer than seven points again.

Kelli Gross (Memphis, Tenn./Houston HS) led the Lady Bucs with 10 points, while Ponecia Anderson (Bartlett, Tenn./Bolton HS), Kat Butler (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS), and Crystal Shelton (Nashville, Tenn./Hume Fogg HS) scored nine each.

Owens led the Lady Bisons with 15. Kinsey Tucker scored 13, while Kaitlin May added 12.

The Lady Bucs shot just 29.5 percent (18-of-61) from the floor, including 25 percent (5-of-20) from three-point range. Harding was 44.2 percent (23-of-52) from the floor and 30 percent (6-of-20) from beyond the arc.
