Final Stats

MEMPHIS--Host Rhodes rallied for a 5-4 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Tuesday afternoon at Stauffer Field.

The Bucs (7-5) jumped to a 3-0 lead with three runs on three walks, two singles, and an error in the first inning as freshman Alvino Ramirez (Las Vegas, Nev./Centennial HS) hit an RBI single to center to bring home Mark Foster (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) for the game's first run. Ramirez scored when Rocky Escajadillo (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) reached on an error, and Bobby Lawrence (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) singled Charlie Soukup (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) home to finish the scoring in the inning.

Rhodes pulled within one in the fifth when Mason Mosby drove a run in with a single and Richard Hurd brought in one more with a sacrifice fly. The Bucs extended their lead to two in the seventh as Foster led off with a single. He stole second and scored on a Josh Shelton (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) single. The Bucs would not score again, however.

An error, a walk, and a single loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, and Daniel Vanaman hit a two-run single to tie the game. The Lynx (7-2) took the win in the ninth. Richard Hurd led off with a single and Vanaman drew a walk. After a sacrifice bunt, the Bucs intentionally walked Daniel Killary to load the bases, but Brett Miller drew a bases-loaded walk to end the game.

Ramirez continued his strong play as he went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Foster was 3-4 with two runs, and Lawrence went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Steven Thomas (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) took the loss for the Bucs, falling to 0-2.

The Bucs will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they host LeMoyne-Owen at 2 p.m.
