Final Stats

MEMPHIS--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs retired the first 19 batters on their way to a 6-1 win at Rhodes Monday afternoon.

The Lady Bucs (10-11) scored a run in the top of the first on a Lauren Zavelli (Bartlett, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) RBI groundout, and they tacked on two more unearned runs in the second. Zavelli went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, pitchers Nikki Dunn (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) and Kallie McFatter (Mansfield, Texas/Summit HS) combined to retire 19 straight Lynx (13-5) hitters to start the game. Dunn (7-6) pitched four innings, striking out nine and forcing three groundouts. McFatter mowed down the first seven batters she faced before back-to-back doubles by Ciana Pender and Dana Bartolomei brought in the only run for Rhodes.

The Lady Bucs scored two more in the fourth as Stephanie Keaton (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) singled and Lauren Hearn (Millington, Tenn./Millington HS) doubled to put runners on second and third with none out. Dunn drove Keaton in with a single, and a Zavelli sacrifice fly scored Hearn to put CBU up 5-0.

Hannah Shackelford (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) walked to start the sixth and scored on a Zavelli single for the Lady Bucs' final run.

Keaton went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Hearn and Shackelford also scored two runs each.

The Lady Bucs will be back in action Thursday as they start a GSC series with a doubleheader at Henderson State. They will return home Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. for the second doubleheader against HSU.
