MEMPHIS--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs dropped both games Friday in the Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament at Wilson Morgan Park in Decatur, Ala.
In Friday's first game, West Georgia (30-26, 10-8) pitcher Chelsea Albertson threw a perfect game as the Wolves topped CBU 12-0. UWG scored all they would need and more in the second, plating eight runs to take control. UWG tacked on another run in the third and three more in the fourth for the final margin.
In the second game, the Lady Bucs (13-19, 5-14) took a 2-0 lead in the third as Hannah Shackelford (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) singled, stole second, and scored on a Meagan Shackleford (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) single. Shackleford moved up to second on the throw and scored on a Lauren Zavelli (Bartlett, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) double. UWA (24-29, 3-15) would answer with a run in the fourth and four in the fifth to claim a 5-2 victory. Zavelli went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lady Bucs.
CBU will play two more games Saturday as they face North Alabama at noon and Alabama-Huntsville at 2 p.m.
