RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs swept a Gulf South Conference doubleheader at Arkansas Tech Monday afternoon, winning 1-0 and 4-1 as they took three of four games in the series.

Sophomore pitcher Nikki Dunn (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) tossed a three-hit shutout in the first game. She only allowed four baserunners, only one of which reached second base, as she struck out nine in dominant fashion to move to 9-8 on the year.

Michelle Paul (Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Summit HS) scored the game's only run on a wild pitch in the second inning.

In the second game, the Lady Bucs (13-16, 5-11 GSC) turned four singles, three errors, and a hit batter into three two-out runs in the top of the first inning.

Dunn singled with one out, advanced to second on an error, and scored on a two-out Meagan Shackleford (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) single. Sammy Maness (Gallatin, Tenn./Gallatin HS) was then hit by a pitch. Paul reached on an error, scoring Shackleford, and a Stephanie Keaton (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) RBI single finished the scoring for the inning.

CBU pitcher Kallie McFatter (Mansfield, Texas/Summit HS) turned in her second consecutive strong appearance, allowing just one run on six hits with no walks as she improved to 4-8. ATU (10-24, 5-11) scored its only run in the third inning on a Sarah Pratt double.

The Lady Bucs tacked on an insurance run in the seventh as Lauren Hearn (Millington, Tenn./Millington HS) doubled to left-center and came home on a Dunn single.

Dunn relieved McFatter in the seventh inning and retired all three batters she faced for her first save of the season.

Dunn went 3-for-4 in the second game with a run and an RBI. Shackleford and Lauren Zavelli (Bartlett, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) each went 2-for-4, while Hearn went 2-for-3.

The Lady Bucs will have a busy weekend as they travel to Decatur, Ala., for this year's GSC Crossover, where they will play six games against GSC East Division opponents between Thursday and Sunday.

Their next home game will be Tuesday, April 17, against Rhodes at 4 p.m.
