MEMPHIS--The Memphis Tigers used three first-half goals to defeat the Christian Brothers University Buccaneers 3-0 in an exhibition matchup at Mike Rose Soccer Complex Sunday night.
Three different Tigers scored goals in the first 12 minutes as Memphis built a 3-0 lead before CBU's defense settled in the rest of the way.
Thomas Hyland scored in the sixth minute for Memphis, followed by Jared Britcher in the 10th minute and Jordan Lynn in the 12th minute.
Daniel Foster (Gallatin, Tenn./Gallatin HS) made three saves in goal during the first half for CBU, while newcomer Dex Norman (Arlington, Texas/University of Central Florida) made one save in the second half.
Memphis out-shot the Bucs 14-6, incuding a 7-3 margin in shots on goal.
CBU will start the season Thursday night at Signaigo Field when they host Harding in a non-conference game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
