HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs won one of two games in the first day of the University of Alabama-Huntsville/Country Inn and Suites Classic.
The Lady Bucs (10-6) dropped a 3-0 decision to West Georgia Friday morning, but they swept Valdosta State 3-0 Friday afternoon, avenging a loss to VSU in last weekend's West Georgia Classic.
West Georgia (13-2) swept CBU 30-24, 30-22, 30-19 in the first match of the day, behind 11 kills from Andressa Martins and 10 kills from Jordan McDonald. Junior Jenna Cherry (Covington, La./Covington HS) led CBU with 11 digs.
The Lady Bucs swept VSU (7-6) 30-26, 32-30, 30-19 in their second match of the day. Cherry's 11 kills led the Lady Bucs, while freshman outside hitter Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) collected 25 assists as she filled in at setter due to injury.
CBU will be back in action tomorrow afternoon. They face host Alabama-Huntsville at 1 p.m., and they face Francis Marion (S.C.) at 3 p.m.
