Lady Bucs Split Four Matches in Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala.--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split four matches in the Viva Health/University of Montevallo Volleyball Classic this weekend.

Friday, CBU (7-3) lost 3-1 to Flagler, but swept Montevallo 3-0.  Saturday, the Lady Bucs swept Shaw 3-0, but fell 3-1 to Drury.

Freshman outside hitter Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) led the way with 16 kills against Flagler, but the Lady Bucs lost 27-30, 30-22, 30-10, 30-21.  Junior outside hitter Jenna Cherry (Covington, La./Covington HS) added 10 kills, while sophomore setter Brenna Blackburn (Sandy, Utah/Brighton HS) collected 35 assists.

Cherry led the way Friday night in CBU's win over Montevallo, as she had match-highs of 11 kills and 17 digs.  Blackburn added 31 assists, while junior libero Bridget Buckley (Parker, Colo./Chaparral HS) collected 10 digs.  The Lady Bucs won 30-24, 32-30, 30-25.

Saturday morning, the Lady Bucs rolled to a 3-0 win over Shaw, 30-14, 30-18, 30-19.  Sophomore right-side hitter Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) led CBU with nine kills, and Blackburn had 32 assists.

Saturday afternoon, Drury topped CBU 28-30, 30-20, 30-27, 30-19 despite 15 kills by junior middle blocker Aubrey Pancratz (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS).  Orendorff added 11 kills, while Cherry collected a team-best 15 digs.  Buckley (11) and Hein (10) also found double digits in digs.  Blackburn added 35 assists.
