MAGNOLIA, Ark.--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs won the first two games of their Gulf South Conference West Division match at Southern Arkansas Sunday afternoon, but SAU won the final three to take a 3-2 victory.
The Lady Bucs (10-12, 0-4 GSC West) appeared to be on the verge of snapping their five-match skid as they won the first two games 30-24 and 30-26. They missed a chance to put the match away in three, as the Lady Muleriders (6-13, 2-2) won 34-32 in game three to stay alive, and they won the final two games 30-20 and 15-9.
Junior middle blocker Aubrey Pancratz (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) led the Lady Bucs with 18 kills and five blocks, while sophomore right-side hitter Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) added 14 kills and five blocks. Junior outside hitter Jenna Cherry (Covington, La./Covington HS) had 20 digs to go with her 11 kills. Junior libero Bridget Buckley (Parker, Colo./Chaparral HS) led the Lady Bucs with 23 digs, while freshman outside hitter Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) also collected 20 digs. Sophomore setter Brenna Blackburn (Sandy, Utah/Brighton HS) returned to the lineup with a season-high 58 assists and 11 digs for CBU.
Kristina Daily led SAU with 18 kills, while Mallory McKee's 38 digs tied for 10th-most in GSC history.
The Lady Bucs will return to Canale Arena Tuesday night as they host Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m.
