MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs finished the first half of their Gulf South Conference West Division schedule with their strongest performance to date, sweeping Arkansas-Monticello in three sets to remain in third place by themselves in the GSC West standings.
The Lady Bucs (16-6, 4-2 GSC West) hit .383 as a team as they rolled to a 25-16, 25-8, 25-13 win in just under an hour Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) led the way with 10 kills, while
Aubrey Pancratz (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) and
Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) added eight each.
Whitney Weyhrich (Lincoln, Neb./North Star HS) had 27 assists to go with five kills, while
Kelsey Green (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) and
Jenna Cherry (Covington, La./Covington HS) tied for the match high in assists with nine each.
With the win, the Lady Bucs stand at 4-2 halfway through their GSC West schedule, two games ahead of UAM (14-11, 2-4) and Southern Arkansas, who are tied for fourth place. The Lady Bucs are just a half-game behind second-place Harding and a game and a half behind first-place Arkansas Tech.
The top four teams from each division of the GSC qualify for the GSC Tournament, which will be held Nov. 14-15 and hosted by the GSC East division winner. No. 20 West Florida currently leads the East Division.
