PENSACOLA, Fla.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs' most successful season since joining the NCAA ended Friday afternoon with a three-set loss to North Alabama in the quarterfinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament.

The Lady Bucs (25-10) dropped the first set 25-23, coming up just short in a set that saw 13 ties and three lead changes.  Neither team led by more than three points in the set.  UNA (23-10) rolled to a 25-17 win in the second set as they scored the first five points and never looked back.  The Lady Bucs came back inspired in the third set, scoring the first three points and leading by as much as five points.  They held a 20-18 lead before UNA scored three straight to take control and eventually win 25-22.

Senior Jenna Cherry (Covington, La./Covington HS) closed her career on a high note with a team-high 12 kills and 13.5 points.  Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) added 10 kills, while Whitney Weyhrich (Lincoln, Neb./North Star HS) had 39 assists.  The Lady Bucs out-hit UNA, hitting .252 to the Lions' .238, but they were done in by mistakes — five service errors, five receive errors, and three ball-handling errors.

Kelly Pratt led UNA with 15 kills, while Whitney Sanders added 13.

The Lady Bucs' 25 wins were their most since going 34-12 and winning the TCAC Championship in 1995.

The Lady Bucs bid farewell to five seniors: Cherry, Aubrey Pancratz (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS), Bridget Buckley (Parker, Colo./Chapparal HS), Stephanie Parker (Collierville, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS), and Brittany Cochran (Germantown, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy).
