ARKADELPHIA, Ark.--Host Henderson State used its pressure defense to harass the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs into 25 turnovers as they earned a 76-49 win to even their Gulf South Conference West Division record Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Reddies (14-9, 5-5 GSC West) turned those turnovers into a 28-10 margin in points off turnovers.
The game was tied three different times in the first three minutes, but the Lady Reddies used a 17-6 run between the 16-minute mark and the under-10 minute media timeout to open up an 11-point lead, and another 9-0 run shortly after the media break blew the lead open to 32-15 after back-to-back Danyelle Harris fast-break layups with just over five minutes remaining in the half, and CBU (16-7, 4-6) never came closer than 14 points again.
Senior center Ponecia Anderson (Bartlett, Tenn./Bolton HS) led the Lady Bucs with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Chanlee Bottoms led the Lady Reddies with 17 points in 24 minutes off the bench. Candy Hall had 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Danyelle Harris added 11 points.
The Lady Bucs will travel to the other side of the street in Arkadelphia Thursday night as they visit Ouachita Baptist at 6 p.m. They return home next Saturday afternoon to face No. 1 Delta State at 3 p.m.
