MEMPHIS--Host Rhodes used a six-run second inning to take over the game on their way to a 16-6 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Wednesday afternoon at Stauffer Field.
The Bucs (11-16) struck first in the top of the first inning as freshman Ryan McCabe (Richmond, Texas/Terry HS) blasted a three-run homer to break the ice. The Bucs tacked on another run an inning later as Matt Trouy (Millington, Tenn./Millington HS) singled and scored on an error.
But in the bottom of the second, the Lynx (17-7) exploded for six runs on three hits, six walks, and an error. Command would continue to be a problem for the Bucs the rest of the way as they finished the game with 15 walks.
The Lynx kept the offense on, scoring two runs in the fourth and sixth innings to extend their lead to 10-5. They scored four in the seventh and ended it with two runs in the eighth.
McCabe, Trouy, and Josh Shelton (Rosemark, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) had two hits each for the Bucs.
The Bucs will be back in action this weekend with a GSC series at Arkansas Tech. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m., with a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
