HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split a pair of matches against GSC East Division opponents Friday, outlasting host Alabama-Huntsville in five sets before losing in four to West Alabama in the UAH Volleyball Invitational.
In the first match, the Lady Bucs (5-2) used 14 kills by junior
Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) to win 18-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 15-7 over the host Chargers (1-4). Freshman setter
Whitney Weyhrich (Lincoln, Neb./North Star HS) collected 44 assists on CBU’s 54 kills, as the Lady Bucs hit .230 as a team.
In the nightcap, freshman
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) racked up 13 kills and 13 digs, but the Lady Bucs dropped a 26-24, 25-15, 25-12, 27-25 nailbiter to West Alabama (3-3). Orendorff added 10 kills, and the Lady Bucs hit .316 as a team in defeat. Weyhrich added 37 assists.
The Lady Bucs will be back in action Saturday night as they take on West Georgia at 5 p.m.
