MAGNOLIA, Ark.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs kept their Gulf South Conference Tournament hopes alive Saturday afternoon with a four-set win at Southern Arkansas.
The Lady Bucs (16-11, 5-4 GSC West) took control with a 25-17 win in the first set and a 25-20 win in the second set. Southern Arkansas (1-29, 0-9) took the third set 25-20 before the Lady Bucs finished the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) paced the Lady Bucs' defense, setting a school record with 37 digs in the four-set match. Kim Ries holds the overall record with 38 at Henderson State in 2002.
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) also excelled defensively with 21 digs.
Lauren South (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) and
Kelsey Green (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) added 11 each, and Green had 34 assists.
Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) led the Lady Bucs with 16 kills, while
Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) added 14 digs to her 13 kills.
Logan Westphal (Herndon, Va./Herndon HS) tacked on 11 kills.
The Lady Bucs return to action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as they welcome first-place Harding to Canale Arena.
