HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split two matches at the University of Alabama-Huntsville/Country Inn & Suites Classic Friday, sweeping host UAH in three sets but losing in four to Montevallo.
In the opener, the Lady Bucs (6-5) swept UAH (4-7) 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.
Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) led the Lady Bucs with 10 kills and 11 digs, while
Logan Westphal (Herndon, Va./Herndon HS) pounded 11 kills and hit .474.
Kelsey Green (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) had 34 assists for the Lady Bucs.
In the nightcap, Montevallo (7-4) used 27 kills from Katy Handrick to edge the Lady Bucs 28-26, 25-27, 25-21, 25-16.
Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) led the Lady Bucs with 14 kills.
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) had 13 kills and a match-best 21 digs, while Hein added 11 kills. Green picked up four blocks to go with 41 assists.
The Lady Bucs continue play in the UAH/Country Inn & Suites Classic Saturday. They face Newberry at 9 a.m. before playing West Georgia at 4:30 p.m.
