Lady Bucs Split in First Day of UAH Tournament

Kelly Nolan had 13 kills and 21 digs, but the Lady Bucs lost in four to Montevallo Friday night. They swept Alabama-Huntsville earlier Friday.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split two matches at the University of Alabama-Huntsville/Country Inn & Suites Classic Friday, sweeping host UAH in three sets but losing in four to Montevallo.

In the opener, the Lady Bucs (6-5) swept UAH (4-7) 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.  Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) led the Lady Bucs with 10 kills and 11 digs, while Logan Westphal (Herndon, Va./Herndon HS) pounded 11 kills and hit .474.  Kelsey Green (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) had 34 assists for the Lady Bucs.

In the nightcap, Montevallo (7-4) used 27 kills from Katy Handrick to edge the Lady Bucs 28-26, 25-27, 25-21, 25-16.  Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) led the Lady Bucs with 14 kills.  Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) had 13 kills and a match-best 21 digs, while Hein added 11 kills.  Green picked up four blocks to go with 41 assists.

The Lady Bucs continue play in the UAH/Country Inn & Suites Classic Saturday.  They face Newberry at 9 a.m. before playing West Georgia at 4:30 p.m.
