HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split a pair of matches Saturday in the University of Alabama-Huntsville/Country Inn & Suites Classic, being swept by Newberry in the opener but winning in four sets over West Georgia.
The Lady Bucs (7-6) dropped a 25-14, 25-19, 25-19 decision to Newberry (7-5) in the first match Saturday morning.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) led the Lady Bucs' defense with 18 digs, while
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) picked up 10.
Kelsey Green (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) had 25 assists.
In the Lady Bucs' second game,
Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) pounded 21 kills to lead the Lady Bucs to a 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23 win over West Georgia (6-8).
Logan Westphal (Herndon, Va./Herndon HS) added 13 kills and a .684 hitting percentage, while Nolan and
Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) had 12 kills each. Doder set a season high with 24 digs, leading three players in double figures as Hein had 14 and Nolan added 10. Green set a career high with 58 assists.
The Lady Bucs return to action Monday night as they visit Lyon at 7 p.m. They return home Tuesday night to face Rhodes, also at 7 p.m.
