FLORENCE, Ala.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split a pair of matches Friday at the University of North Alabama Classic, sweeping Northern Kentucky before losing in three sets to No. 13 Truman State.
In the opener, the Lady Bucs (5-2) edged Northern Kentucky (3-2) in three straight, winning 25-21 in the first set and completing the victory with a pair of 25-23 wins.
Kelsey Green (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) led the Lady Bucs with eight kills and three blocks, while
Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) had seven kills and three aces.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) led the Lady Bucs with 15 digs, and
Whitney Weyhrich (Lincoln, Neb./North Star HS) added 22 assists.
In Friday's second match, the Lady Bucs were on the wrong side of three close sets, falling 25-21, 25-22, and 25-20 to Truman State (4-1). Orendorff led the Lady Bucs with nine kills, while Weyhrich and
Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) added seven each. The Lady Bucs posted 65 digs in the match, led by 18 from Doder. Hein and
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) had 13 each, while Green collected 12.
The road will be no easier for the Lady Bucs Saturday as they take on No. 20 Indianapolis at 9 a.m. before facing California (Pa.) at 1 p.m.
