Box Score SEARCY, Ark.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs' longest winning streak in 15 years ended Tuesday night at eight matches with a three-set loss at Harding, dropping the Lady Bucs out of a tie for first place in the Gulf South Conference West Division.
The Lady Bisons (14-10, 7-2 GSC West) took a 5-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 25-14 win in the first set, and they used an 8-2 run in the second set to break a 14-14 tie on their way to a 25-20 win. In the final set, the Lady Bucs (16-11, 8-2) built a 5-1 lead and led most of the way, including a 25-24 edge before Harding scored three staight points to claim a 27-25 victory.
Kaitlin Keathley (Henderson, Nev./Silverado HS) led the Lady Bucs with 12 kills, while
Lizzie McLean (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) and
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added nine each.
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) collected 34 assists, and
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) logged a match-best 17 digs.
The Lady Bucs' eight-match winning streak was their longest since winning 13 straight from Sept. 11 through Oct. 2, 1995. Ironically, that streak also ended with a three-set sweep at Harding.
The Lady Bucs come home Thursday night at 7 p.m. for their final home match of the season against first-place Arkansas Tech. ATU is 25-4 overall and brings a 9-1 GSC West record to Canale Arena, having won 20 of their last 21 matches.
