Lady Bucs Rally Past SAU in Five

Michelle Hein posted 11 kills and 16 digs to lead the Lady Bucs to a five-set win at Southern Arkansas Sunday afternoon.
Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs moved to 3-1 in Gulf South Conference West Division play Sunday afternoon with a come-from-behind five-set win at Southern Arkansas.

The Lady Bucs (9-10, 3-1 GSC West) won the first set 25-19, but SAU (9-7, 1-3) answered by winning the next two sets 25-12 and 25-18.  The Lady Bucs narrowly forced a fifth set with a 25-23 win in set four, and they edged SAU 15-12 in the fifth set to claim the victory.

Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) and Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) pounded 11 kills each, with Hein matching Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) for the team-high of 16 digs.  Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) added 15 digs, while Gillis notched 10.  Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) dished out 34 assists.

Becca Pate led SAU with 15 kills, and her 19 digs were one behind Kahli Remy's match-high.  Ashlie Arnold had 46 assists.

The Lady Bucs stay on the road Tuesday night at 7 p.m. to take on first-place Arkansas Tech.  Their next home game is Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Arkansas-Monticello.
