Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs snapped host Arkansas Tech's 13-match winning streak Tuesday night, moving into first place in the Gulf South Conference West Division with a three-set sweep.
In the opening set, the Lady Bucs (10-10, 4-1 GSC West) pulled away to a 25-21 win after a back-and-forth set that saw no lead of more than four points for either team. The Lady Bucs won another nip-and-tuck set in the second set, surviving for a 25-23 win after 11 ties and five lead changes. In the final set, the Lady Bucs exploded for a quick 8-3 lead and never allowed ATU (18-4, 3-1) closer than four points again in a 25-18 win.
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) paced the Lady Bucs with 16 kills and 13 digs, hitting .441 as she racked up 19.5 points.
Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) added nine kills, while
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) logged 13 digs.
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had 38 assists.
The win was the Lady Bucs' first in Russellville since 2003, snapping a six-match losing streak at ATU.
The Lady Bucs return to the court Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Arkansas-Monticello in the final match of the first round of the GSC West schedule.
