Lady Bucs Swept in Florida

Hailey Gillis collected 19 kills in the Lady Bucs' matches against No. 17 Minnesota State-Mankato and Lynn Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. CBU lost both matches.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs were swept Friday by No. 17 Minnesota State-Mankato and Lynn in the Hyatt Place Shark Classic hosted by Nova Southeastern University.

In the opener, the Mavericks (5-0) swept CBU (4-3) 25-18, 25-18, 25-16, dropping the Lady Bucs to 0-3 all-time against ranked opponents in Division II.  CBU lost to top-20 foes Truman State and Indianapolis last year.

Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led CBU with nine kills, while Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had 17 assists.  Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) paced the defense with 11 digs.

In the nightcap, Lynn (5-1) cruised to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-17 sweep over the Lady Bucs.

Gillis again led the Lady Bucs with 10 kills, and Miles logged 21 assists.  Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) logged a team-high 13 digs, while Doder added 10.

The Lady Bucs face their highest-ranked opponent in school history tomorrow morning as they take on No. 5 Minnesota-Duluth at 8 a.m.  They finish the Shark Classic with a 2:30 p.m. match against Barry.
