Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs moved back to .500 on the season as they won a five-set match at Rhodes Tuesday night.
The Lady Bucs (5-5) rolled to a 25-15 win in the first set and appeared to be in control in the second set with a 19-12 lead, but Rhodes (5-5) scored nine of the last 10 points to rally for a 25-23 win. In the third set, the Lady Bucs claimed a 25-16 win, but Rhodes answered by building a 19-12 lead in the fourth set and holding on for a 25-21 win to send the match to a decisive fifth set. The Lady Bucs dominated the final set, never trailing as they built a 7-3 lead early and stretched it out to a 15-7 final margin.
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) led the way for the Lady Bucs with 10 kills, while
Lizzie McLean (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) added eight.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) collected 22 digs, while
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had 29 assists.
The Lady Bucs hit the road this weekend as they play in two different tournaments in northern Alabama. Friday, the Lady Bucs will face West Florida and North Alabama in the University of North Alabama Classic in Florence, Ala.. Saturday, they take on Valdosta State and West Georgia in the Country Inn & Suites Classic at Alabama-Huntsville. Their next home match is set for Tuesday night, Sept. 21, against Henderson State.
