Box Score 2 PENSACOLA, Fla.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split two matches against Sunshine State Conference opposition in the West Florida Regional Crossover Friday, sweeping Florida Southern before losing in three sets to No. 2 Tampa.
In the first match, the Lady Bucs (18-5) jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead in the first set on their way to a 25-14 win. The second set saw the Mocs (10-9) lead most of the way , as late as 24-23, before the Lady Bucs rallied to win 27-25. The third set was back-and-forth throughout, with seven ties and four lead changes as the Lady Bucs won 25-23 to claim the victory.
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) paced the Lady Bucs' offense with 16 kills in the match, while
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) added seven to her 13 digs.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) collected a team-high 14 digs with five aces, and
Lauren South (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) added 10.
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had 35 assists, nine digs, and three aces.
Erin Callahan led FSC with nine kills, while Ali Skayhan posted team-highs of 16 digs and 28 assists.
In the day's second match, the Lady Bucs battled No. 2 Tampa (19-0) to a 19-19 tie late in the first set before the Spartans pulled away to a 25-21 win. The Spartans dominated the second set, scoring the first 10 points on their way to a 25-13 win. The Lady Bucs stayed within striking distance for most of the third set, staying within four points as late as 14-10 before Tampa pulled away to a 25-17 win.
Kaitlin Keathley (Henderson, Nev./Silverado HS) led the Lady Bucs with 10 kills, while Gillis and
Lizzie McLean (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) added six each. Doder collected a match-best 21 digs, while Miles had 25 assists.
Eva Dupay and Danielle Selkridge led Tampa with 10 kills each. Kahley Patrick posted team-highs of 35 assists and 11 digs, while Julie Howlett matched Patrick's 11-dig total.
The Lady Bucs complete the Crossover Saturday with an 11 a.m. game against Lynn and a 3 p.m. game against Eckerd. The Lady Bucs' next home game is set for Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
