Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla.—Host West Florida remained unbeaten in Gulf South Conference play with a four-set win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday night at the UWF Field House.
The Argos (17-8, 9-0 GSC) jumped out to a commanding 14-5 lead in the first set and never let the Lady Bucs (20-7, 6-3) back into the set in winning 25-15. The second set was back-and-forth, with neither team leading by more than two points until UWF shattered a 15-15 tie by scoring 10 of the last 12 to win the set 25-17. In the third set, it was the Lady Bucs who finished strong after the set had been tied as late as 21-21, scoring the last four points to win 25-21. In the fourth set, the Lady Bucs rallied from a 14-8 deficit to pull within a point at 16-15 before UWF scored nine of the last 12 points to win 25-18.
Lizzie McLean (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) led the Lady Bucs' offense with 11 kills and a .391 hitting percentage.
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) added nine kills to her 12 digs, and
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added eight kills and nine digs.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) collected a team-high 19 digs, while
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had 38 assists.
Autumn Duyn led the Argos with 18 kills. Lindsay Homme had 14 kills and hit .636, while Jenny Bellairs added 10 kills. Anna Stoecklein recorded a match-best 21 digs. Molly Pearce led UWF with 28 assists, and Tricia Tirabassi added 22.
The Lady Bucs return to action tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. as they visit New Orleans. The Lady Bucs' next home game is set for next Friday night at 7 p.m. against West Georgia.
