Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs swept visiting Valdosta State in three nip-and-tuck sets in their final GSC home match of the season.
A first set with 14 ties and four lead changes set the tone for the day, with neither team leading by more than four points as the Lady Bucs (23-7, 9-3 GSC) scored six of the last nine points after a 19-all tie. In the next two sets, neither team would build even a four-point lead. The Lady Bucs rallied from a 24-23 deficit in the second set to win 27-25, and after allowing the Blazers (14-16, 4-8) to rally from a 24-22 deficit to tie at 24 in the third set, the Lady Bucs scored the last two points for the win.
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) collected 43 assists to pace the offense, many of them to
Hannah Kurtz (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS), who pounded 16 kills and hit .400.
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) added nine kills, while
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) celebrated her Senior Day with eight kills and 12 digs.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) led the defense with a match-best 19 digs.
Kaitlin Keathley (Henderson, Nev./Silverado HS) matched the Lady Bucs' season-high with seven blocks.
Chelsea Logan paced the Blazers with 13 digs, and Tania Tauliliili added 11. Ashley Lala posted team-highs of 37 assists and 14 digs.
Before the match, the Lady Bucs honored two seniors, Nolan and
Logan Westphal (Herndon, Va./Herndon HS).
The Lady Bucs complete their home schedule Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they host Harding. They finish the regular season next weekend as they visit West Alabama Friday night at 7 p.m. and Alabama-Huntsville Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
