Box Score MEMPHIS—Visiting Harding snapped the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs' longest home-court winning streak in 16 years Tuesday night as they swept the Lady Bucs in three sets.
The Lady Bisons (21-7) scored seven straight points to open up a 19-13 lead in the first set on their way to a 25-17 win. The second set saw 12 ties and three lead changes, with the Lady Bucs (23-8) leading as late as 22-21 before the Lady Bisons scored four of the last five points to win 25-23. The third set remained nip-and-tuck throughout, with neither team holding a lead of more than three points, but Harding scored the final three after a 22-all tie to win 25-22.
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) and
Hannah Kurtz (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) collected 10 kills each to pace the offense, as
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had 34 assists.
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) gathered 18 digs, while
Kelly Nolan (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain HS) added 14.
Mollie Arnold led Harding with 16 kills, and Amber Parker had 23 digs. Taryn Eubank added 35 assists.
The Lady Bucs had won their previous eight home matches, their first eight-match home streak since 2004-05 and their longest since winning 14 straight in 1995 and 1996.
The Lady Bucs wrap up the regular season this weekend when they visit West Alabama Friday night at 7 p.m. and Alabama-Huntsville Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Lady Bucs have already clinched a berth in the Gulf South Conference Tournament Nov. 11-12 in Pensacola, Fla.
