Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs celebrated Senior Night with a three-set win over West Alabama Friday night at Canale Arena.
The Lady Bucs (12-5, 7-2 GSC) cruised to a 25-16 win in the first set and held off West Alabama (9-9, 2-7) 25-21 in the second set. In the third set, the Lady Bucs dug holes of 4-0 and 11-8 before responding with seven straight points to take the lead for good at 15-11, eventually winning the set 25-19.
Hannah Kurtz (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) led the Lady Bucs with 14 kills as she hit .300, and
Lizzie McLean (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) hit .444 with nine kills.
Kristina Headrick (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) collected 16 digs, followed by 10 from
Lauren South (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS).
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) logged a match-best 33 assists.
Tazra Pitts paced UWA with 12 kills. Chelsea Payne led the team with 31 assists, and Cynthia Smith collected a match-best 26 digs.
The Lady Bucs play their next six matches away from home, starting when they step out of GSC play next weekend as they travel to Tampa, Fla., for the 2012 Red Elephant Cafe South Region Crossover, where they will face Saint Leo, Eckerd, Florida Southern, and Tampa. Their next home match is Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. as they host Union.
